Friday At Five Band:
ANTHONY CYRANEK is the Lead Vocalist/Frontman for Friday at Five. Growing up with music in the household and playing piano at a young age, it was a matter of time before discovering his eventual fate to be a vocalist. Anthony uses a Shure Vocal Artist SM58 wireless microphone. Being approached by a friend to form a band at age 28, he said, WHY NOT. Bands he fronted were, Raw Materials, Full Throttle, Push To Play, Aces 13, Back in the Day, then starting the acoustic duos of Chi Town Duo and Acoustically SOUND. Those duos are still in place and performing routinely.
MIKE MONTALTO plays guitar for Friday at Five. As a teenager, he started out playing drums in a band called “Prisoner II”. Mike has several musical influences, The Rolling Stones being the biggest. Mike was in several bands throughout the years and is a founding member of Friday at Five. Mike plays with a Gibson Standard guitar, Fender Telecaster, Fender Telecaster Deluxe, Fender Strat , a Takamine Acoustic Guitar and a Marshall JVM 410 for amplification. Mike really appreciates the Friday at Five fans and hopes to see you all at the upcoming shows!!!
MATT WOODMAN started playing and studying the guitar at the ripe old age of 7 after hearing the blues rock and classic rock greats of the late sixties and early seventies. Continuing to absorb anything and everything guitar, Matt’s influences (too many to name) also came to include legendary guitarists from many genres of music. Prior to being a founding member and lead guitarist for Friday At Five, Matt played in various bands in addition to teaching guitar at the Bloomingdale School of Music and Barrington School of Music. Matt’s tools of the trade include various electric and acoustic 6 and 12 string guitars as well as Mesa Boogie and Fender amps.
DAN BACHAR — Percussions “Hello out there in Band world!” I’ve been playing since the mid-80s, I enjoy listening to way too many bands to list, but Rush has always been a favorite of mine, so I will mention them as a big influence. My current kit is made by Pearl…cymbals are (mostly) Zildjian.
PHIL “DESPERADO” PANCZUK – resident bassist, backing vocalist, and newest member of Friday at Five. Learned piano at the age of 10 and taught himself guitar and bass. He’s been in bands since 1981, those being Smuggler, Electroglide, Uncle Fester (had a great fun in ’87 -’93) , the Instigators, Broken Wing (performing his originals ’93 – ’97) and Uncle Fester again (2009 – 2013). Phil also uses a SM58 , plays Gibson Explorer original basses, and Ampeg Portaflex bass amplification. Main influence among bassists are Jack Bruce (Cream), John Paul Jones, Geezer Butler and Duff McKagan (G ‘N R). The high point of his career was recording with the late Gary Loizzo, who engineered and recorded all Styx’s work, as well as the REO Speedwagon breakout album “You Can Tune a Piano but You Can’t Tuna Fish.”
